Serge Hill — Planting Study, Hertfordshire
Landscape and planting design developed through the Serge Hill planting course.
The proposal builds on the existing prairie, reshaping paths, seating and movement through the garden to strengthen its relationship with the new barn and create a more immersive experience of the planting.
The planting strategy retains the most successful existing species while introducing new plant communities suited to changes in soil, moisture and aspect, extending seasonal interest and increasing resilience.
The project brings together spatial design, circulation, planting strategy and detailed species selection to create a landscape that feels loose and naturalistic while remaining carefully structured.
