A complete garden and landscape design service — from first ideas through to detailed design, planting and delivery.
I work with private clients, architects and interior designers to create gardens that feel fully integrated with the house, the way people live and the wider character of the project.I provide full garden and landscape design for private residential projects across London, Surrey and the South of England.
One of my strengths is establishing the right design direction early — bringing together the client brief, architecture, site, budget and practical requirements into one clear landscape vision.
I can then develop that vision through Outline Design, detailed and technical design, planting design, contractor pricing and construction support. On larger or technically complex projects, I bring in the right specialist expertise as the design develops.
For private clients, this means one clear design process from concept to completion. For architects and interior designers, I can lead the landscape design as part of the wider project team.

or see how the Full Garden Design process works below.
1. INITIAL CONVERSATION & SITE VISIT. Understanding the project, the site and the brief.
We’ll begin with a short conversation about the project, your priorities, likely investment, programme and any wider design team already involved.
If it feels like a good fit, I’ll visit the site to understand its scale, character, opportunities and constraints before preparing a clear proposal for the design work.

Next step:
 Outline Design Proposal.

2. OUTLINE DESIGN
Establishing what the landscape could become & early budget confidence.
This is where the main design ideas come together. I develop the spatial layout, movement, character, materials and planting direction, responding to the architecture, site and the way you want to live.
You receive a clear design direction — typically including a concept masterplan, selected visuals and material/planting direction — together with an early professional estimate of likely construction and planting costs.

Next step Once the design direction and likely investment feel right, the project can move into Detail Design.
3. DETAIL & TECHNICAL DESIGN
Developing the approved design into the information needed to price and build.
I resolve the key geometry, levels, materials, interfaces and construction details into a coordinated design package, working with the wider project team and specialist consultants where required.

Next step
Once the design is sufficiently resolved, the project can move into contractor pricing and appointment.

4. PRICING & CONTRACTOR
Turning the detail and technical design into a clear, priced scope for construction.
I prepare or coordinate the information needed for contractor pricing, review proposals and help appoint the right landscape contractor.
The aim is to move into construction with a clear scope, cost position and responsibilities.
Next step You move into construction with a clear contractor, cost position and scope.
5. PLANTING DESIGN & SUPPLY
Bringing character and seasonal life to the landscape.
I develop the planting direction into a detailed scheme suited to the site, architecture, maintenance requirements and character of the garden.
I can specify and source trees, shrubs and plants, coordinate delivery and provide setting-out support so the planting is implemented as designed.
Next step Plants can be sourced and the garden prepared for planting.
6. BUILD SUPPORT & GARDEN HANDOVER
Protecting the design intent as the garden becomes real.
I remain involved during construction and planting at the moments where design judgement adds most value — reviewing key decisions, materials, substitutions, setting out and planting, and helping resolve design questions as they arise.
The level of support is agreed to suit the project.
FAQ
How much does it cost to build a garden?  It isn’t possible to cost a garden accurately before there is a design to price, but broad build-cost ranges can be useful at the start of a project.
As a guide:
£150–600 per m²
Typically simpler schemes, larger sites with good access, or projects with a higher proportion of planting, lawn or meadow and fewer bespoke elements.
£600–1,200 per m²
A common range for urban and suburban gardens combining planting with hard landscaping, varied access and some bespoke features.
£1,200–2,000+ per m²
For highly bespoke gardens, difficult-access sites, roof gardens or projects with significant custom elements and higher-cost materials.
These figures are only a broad guide. Access, levels, materials, bespoke features and plant sizes can all have a major impact on final cost.
At Outline Design stage, I provide an early professional estimate so you can understand the likely level of investment while there is still plenty of opportunity to adjust priorities or scope. More accurate market pricing becomes available once the detailed design is complete and contractors have priced the full works.
How much are your fees?
Fees are agreed clearly before each stage begins and reflect the scale, complexity and level of involvement required. Outline Design typically starts from around £6,000 + VAT. Detail Design, contractor pricing, planting design and construction support are scoped separately according to the needs of the project.

How long does the design process take?
Every project is different, but as a broad guide I allow around 4 weeks for Outline Design and around 6 weeks for Detail Design, with additional time for contractor pricing or tendering where required. Smaller or simpler projects may move more quickly, while larger or more complex projects can take longer.
How can I make the most of my budget?
Good landscape design can save money by helping you decide where to invest, where to simplify and how to avoid costly changes later. It isn’t about spending more — it’s about spending well. Establishing priorities and likely costs early helps focus the budget where it will have the greatest impact.
Do I need to appoint you for every stage?
No. Each stage has a clear scope, fee and outcome and is agreed separately. Most full redesign projects benefit from continuity through the later stages, but the level of involvement can be tailored to the project.
Can you work with my architect or interior designer?
Yes. I can lead the landscape design as part of a wider design team, coordinating the garden with the architecture, interiors and overall project programme.
Do you produce drawings for contractors?
Yes. Depending on the project, I can develop the design through detailed and technical information for pricing and construction, bringing in specialist expertise where required.
Can you help find and appoint a landscape contractor?
Yes. I can help prepare the information needed for pricing, review proposals and support contractor selection.
Do you provide planting design and supply?
Yes. I can develop detailed planting schemes, source trees and plants, coordinate delivery and provide setting-out support on site
Where do you work?  I’m based in Teddington, South West London, and work across London and the South and South East of England. I’m also very happy to travel further for the right project.
