We’ll walk the site together, talk about how you want to use and enjoy the garden, and explore its opportunities, constraints, priorities and likely investment. From there we can brainstorm possibilities, test ideas and sketch together — making the most of the site and what is already there.
You receive: Ideas, advice and design direction, along with any sketches or notes created during the session and a clear recommendation for what to do next.

2. OUTLINE DESIGN · Typically 1 - 2+ weeks - from £6,000+
A considered overall design for your landscape, bringing together the site, architecture and the way you want to live.

I’ll take everything we’ve learned about the project and develop the overall design — exploring the spatial layout, character, materials and planting direction, while keeping your priorities and likely investment in mind.
You receive: A concept masterplan, selected 3D visuals and a supporting design document that clearly communicates the proposed landscape and its key ideas.
Early Budget Confidence: Once the Outline Design has been developed, I’ll provide a broad professional estimate of likely construction and planting costs. This isn’t a contractor’s quotation, but gives you a realistic sense of the likely investment before committing to further design work — allowing us to adjust priorities, refine the scope or phase the project if needed. As materials, details and specifications are resolved, these early estimates are replaced by detailed contractor pricing.
Next step: You can take the Outline Design forward independently, or I can continue into the detailed design, technical and planting stages needed to bring it to life.

At this stage I resolve the design in greater detail, working through elements such as materials and finishes, levels and setting out, construction details and specifications. As these details are resolved, landscape contractors can provide much more accurate costs. Budget and priorities stay part of the conversation throughout, so we can make informed choices about materials, details and where investment will have the greatest impact. Where needed, I’ll also coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors and specialist suppliers so the different elements of the project work together.
You receive: The detailed drawings, specifications and technical information appropriate to your project, ready for pricing and construction.
Next step: Contractor pricing can be finalised and the garden prepared for construction, alongside development of the planting design.
