Approved design for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2027
'The Clearing' is a small urban garden inspired by the idea of discovering of a hidden woodland glade within the city. Created for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Container Garden category, the design demonstrates how beautiful, immersive landscapes can be created without planting into the ground - transforming a collection of familiar containers into one cohesive landscape rather than a series of individual pots. This design demonstrates how rooftops, terraces, balconies and courtyards can become richly planted landscapes where traditional planting isn't possible.
The garden creates a calm, cool place to pause, breathe and reconnect with nature, while demonstrating how thoughtful design can introduce shade, biodiversity and greener spaces into compact urban environments.
Designed as a modular landscape, the garden can be dismantled, relocated and reassembled long after Chelsea, extending its legacy and inspiring others to create similar spaces.

"A really classy application."
"A good example of how container planting can look like a garden."

RHS Chelsea Selection Panel
The garden has been approved by the RHS panel for Chelsea and will form part of the Container Garden category — one of the most accessible and inventive areas of the show, where smaller-scale gardens can offer ideas that feel imaginative, useful and relatable to visitors with limited outdoor space.
THE DESIGN & DELIVERY TEAM
The team brings together complementary experience across design, planting and delivery. Kate Mackay Roberts leads the creative vision and overall design; from Beaufort Rampton, Catherine Rampton brings specialist planting expertise and a strong interest in naturalistic, biodiverse planting; and Tom Beaufort-Lloyd leads the construction and landscape delivery. Together, the team combines award-winning design, planting knowledge and proven RHS show garden delivery experience.
PARTNER WITH US
We’re seeking approximately £50,000 of sponsorship to bring The Clearing to RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Our ambition is to find one Principal Partner to become the exclusive lead partner behind the garden — benefiting from playing a defining role in bringing The Clearing to Chelsea and becoming part of its story and continuing legacy.
As Principal Partner, you’ll receive lead recognition throughout the project, professional photography and content for promotional use, opportunities for PR and storytelling, access to RHS Chelsea exhibitor hospitality and client entertaining opportunities, and recognition throughout the garden’s life beyond Chelsea following its relocation.
We’re also open to creating the right partnership through a Principal Partner and Supporting Partner, alongside selected Project Contributors providing materials, services or specialist expertise.
The exact structure can remain flexible depending on the right partners and contributions.
If this feels like an opportunity that could resonate with your organisation, we’d love to start a conversation.
